We use something from Walmart, when I get home I can let you know the name. We spray the yard and there is a spray for the dogs that DH uses from Walmart. Oh, and also a powder if you have carpet.

I highly recommend using a quality product on your dog. I usually recommend Frontline or Advantage. As far as a yard spray, I'd call a company and have them do it. Some of the OTC products both for yard and putting on your dog can be quite toxic.

I always use Frontline on her. Works the best. One of our neighbors has 4 cats who look just pathetic, and I have a feeling that's where our fleas have come from! Yuck

I'm with moth on the Ortho for the yard.  In the spring I put down the granules and then mid summer I'll buy the spray that hooks up to the hose.

We used Ortho right before we moved into our house as a precautionary measure.

We give our dogs Comfortis (which is an oral medication) for fleas b/c our Boston terrier can't tolerate the topical stuff. We gave it to our flea-ridden rescue dachshund last summer, and the fleas all but disappeared within an hour.
